Through Isolation:
The current COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting, challenging, and transforming our daily routines and future plans.
With consciousness and collaboration, we will find our way through these times. We are flattening the curve for COVID-19 by sheltering in place. Unfortunately, the curve for eating disorders is not flattened by staying indoors. In fact, eating disorders tend to worsen in isolation.
We generally lead an annual conference to help flatten the eating disorder curve. However, to ensure the safety of everyone, this year’s conference, Critical Conversations: Addressing the Needs of Our Trans Communities with Eating Disorders, has been postponed. Regardless, EDRS, Inc. remains dedicated to supporting folks in need of treatment during these trying times. To give us guidance on these efforts, our board returned to the EDRS mission statement for wisdom:
“We are committed to promoting recovery and wellness for those impacted by eating disorders by providing support, information, and education to individuals, families, professionals and the community at large regarding eating disorders and recovery resources.”
